Jay Fredlund - Unit 39 (2-6-2010)

Third stay at Lakeside and one of the best!!

Four middle-aged (45-56) guys looking to find some Utah powder while the wives kept the homefires burning back home in Connecticut for a week.

Condo was spotless and Nick cranked out his semi-famous chocolate chip cookies the first night in the granite kitchen and that set the tone for the week! We hit Carlos and Harley's for mexican and crashed early.

It had snowed the Saturday we arrived and we had leftover powder at Snowbasin on Day 1, hit Powder Mtn on Day 2 and 3 which STILL had great powder in the woods.

A night for dinner at Harley and Bucks on Weds night before a forecast was for "flurries in the mountains" and those "flurries" stacked up 8" high at Snowbasin for Thursday which was the bomb (although visibility was near zero at the summit!)

Hit the Double Diamond Grill and Bar in Eden on Thursday night for the trifecta of restaurants owned by local Craig Bonham who appears to be playing monopoly accumulating resatuarants in the valley!Great food and relaxed atmosphere, just what you want at the end of a powder day!

The Utah weathermen blew it again on Thursday night, much to our delight, as more "flurries in the mtns" turned into ANOTHER 8" and Snowbasin was the straw drawn for Friday and it was A W E S O M E !

And here's a mural in garage of the four guys and my son who made the trip two years ago. If someone says something too frequently over the week we have to put the caption next to their figure on the wall!!! Watch what you say at Snowbasin, you never know who is listening!!! Hope to be back in 2011, Lord willing!!...Jay

We had a wonderful stay at lakeside. The staff was unbelievable and helped us with all our needs. We had a large group of adults and kids and Shelly and Shantele were so accommodating. I also have to give props to our shuttle driver - he rocked and was so helpful. This is a wonderful property and great condo to stay in. Thanks so much Lakeside!!!

Jasper Roach - Unit 20A (02/07/2009)

We had the best ski trip ever. We were lucky enough to arrive just prior to several major storm fronts passing through dumping A LOT of snow. We feel in love with the location of Lakeside as well as the unit. The attached photo is a sunset view from our balcony. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Thanks for everything!
Jasper and Rhonda Roach

Williams - Unit 78 (9/5/08)

This is our THIRD time back to Lakeside Resort and our second time staying in Condo #78 this summer. We had told our friends how nice it is and the Petersen's came up and rented a condo also! We brought up the boat and played on the lake Friday night a little bit (we had to go to Swiss Days first) and decided to get a headstart on Saturday morning. We were on the lake at 7:30 and ended up wearing our sweatshirts. It was pretty cold outside. The water was warmer than the outside air! The boys didn't seem to care at all! They wakeboarded and kneeboarded for a few hours and then we came back to the condo for breakfast. This was Natalie's first time on a boat (she is 8) and she wasn't too sure how much she liked being in the water. She was pretty brave and the tears didn't seem to last for too long! The boys all got up on the wakeboard and they all kneeboarded also. We had indoor smores for dessert again and spent a lot of time in the hot tub! It's a good thing we got our boating in on Saturday and Sunday. Because Sunday evening a storm rolled in with wind, rain and more wind! The power went out at about 7:30 p.m. and when we left the next morning at 11:00 a.m. the power was still out! But, the staff had made sure we had a flashlight under the kitchen sink! With or without power we still had a great time! We have also made another tradition of stopping at Eats of Eden to have pizza and cheese bread on our way to Lakeside Resort. Can't wait to come back up next summer!

Williams - Unit 61 (8/5/08)

This was our SECOND trip to Lakeside this summer! This has become a yearly, family tradition! Grandma and Grandpa book the condos and we get to have fun with the cousins, aunts and uncles! We brought our boat up again and the fun started on Thursday. We were on the lake for a few hours and the clouds rolled in! We loaded the boat while it poured down with rain! The grassy area at the condos looked like a little lake! I don't remember the last time when it rained this hard! Of course the kids went back to the hot tub and we waited the storm out. We headed back out to the the lake EARLY Saturday morning, 7:00 a.m., and let the fun begin again. I created a great memory for my nieces and nephews when I wakeboarded this day. I scored a 15 on a scale of 1 to 10 in crashes! I had a major face plant! Chipped a tooth, bruised my jaw and ended up with two black eyes! The kids will always remember this trip! Just about all the kids tried to wakeboard and kneeboard and they almost all got up. We still need to help Natosha! Mitch is still working on his backflip ... just about has it! Dinners and desserts were always nice, we loved having BBQ's on the deck, and we even got to watch the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Summer Olympics together! This was another great trip! Grandma and Grandpa have already booked the same condos for next summer!

Greg Williams - Unit 78 (7/25/08)

This was our third year staying at Lakeside. Mitchell brought his friend Nick and we also had our neighbors, the Belnaps, come up for the weekend. We brought our boat and had a GREAT time on the lake! The water was warm and the kids had a lot of fun! Mitchell started trying a back flip on the wakeboard! The Belnap's kids hadn't boated often and had a blast! They were all brave and kneeboarded and tubed. It was nice to go out early in the morning, come back for some breakfast, and then head out to the lake again! We were surprised that the lake was not really crowded. The kids LOVED the hot tub! Our condo even had DVD's for us to watch. We watched Godzilla and played chess, and had indoor smores for dessert! The condo was very nice and we are planning to come up again later this summer.

Kathy Chiaravalli - Unit 42 (03/23/08)

We are a family of five from Michigan who had a fantastic ski trip. We have been to Utah many times and usually stayed either in the Little Cottonwood Canyon or Park City.

We loved Powder Mountain and Snow Basin. We loved Lakeside and the great service especially the concierge service.

We spent one day skiing in Deer Valley. My husband was using my bright yellow ski poles with the red handles and real leather straps. The ones I bought at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin in 1978. We met a really cool producer from California who collected vintage poles. He traded his white and blue German vintage poles from the yellow and reds.

My teenaged daughter also met up with a young man we met on a carribean cruise. Who would have thought that he would be in Utah from Minnesota the same week we were there from Michigan.

We also went to a Craft fair in downtown Ogden at the Train Station. We bought alot of really cool things including some wonderful lotion for dry skin - all the profits go to charity and it works better than anything I've tried at any price.

All in all, we loved our trip and would definitely come back.

Donna Evans - Unit 36 (3/7/2008)

We stayed in your wonderful condo to have a family gathering and ski until we dropped, and we succeeded in that. I have four sons and 3 daughters in law and 3 grandsons, and all of us were able to make it there for this vacation. We were going to ski Powder Mtn., but we have never skiied there before. In the book in the condo someone had written that if you are going to ski Powder Mtn. for the first time you better have a guide, so we decided to go to Snow Basin where we had already skied before. We had a wonderful time, and the condo was perfect for this getaway. When we returned to the condo we barbecued steaks, drank some wine, sat in the hot tub, enjoyed the fireplace and played WII on one tv, and playstation on the other level. The set-up could not have been better for us. We enjoyed you and your staff because it all seemed like family, not just staff. Thank you so much for our stay with you. We will return next year.

Anthony Duffy - Unit 19 (3/6/08)

We expected some sort of "hassle"-There was none! As you look down from the summit atop strawberry express, the real world is literally miles away and no one can get to you, then you drop in on your personal journey back to that world. The hot tub is ready and waiting to take the edge off when you get "home". The fireplace springs to action to dry your gloves and boots. Everything you need to prepare and serve your family and friends is right there in the kitchen-everything. Cozy-home. A drive to Ogden for dinner and you are greeted by waterfalls and a vertical rock wall "hug"- amazing. Timbermine is like an Americana museum with great comfort food- we love things with "history". Back we go to bed wrapped in down to recharge for the next experience the sunrise brings.

Chloe Stahl - Unit 30 (2/21/08)

We loved staying at the lakeside and skiing at Snowbasin. We did get one person to climb onto the copper bull across the road for a picture and we meant to climb on the other animals but it started snowing too hard for the photo opp. A highlight was eating at the Shooting Star Saloon on Saturday night. We were a little mystified when we first got there on Saturday at 8PM and expected it to by hoppin' and there was only one other table. By 8:30 when we received our burgers the owner was already stacking chairs on the bar and turning off lights. We got the hint and started to leave. On the way out we asked him if that was a typical Saturday night and he explained to us that he had already served over 400 burgers that day and that most people either drive up from Park City or Salt Lake and have to drive home so they usually close pretty early. We'll take note for next time! Once we got him talking we heard all the stories of the history of the bar and took pictures with the dog. It was great!

Martin Lisius - Unit 72A (2/8/2008)

I must say I was very impressed with Lakeside as a lodging option for our February ski trip. I have stayed at several condominiums across the Rockies, and none have been better. The quality of the lodging was top notch. The unit had everything we needed and more. The private hot tub on the balcony was fantastic! It was a big hit with my 7-year old son. We would come back from the slopes and just sit and enjoy the view of the snow-covered mountains as they turned pink in the setting sunlight. The staff at Lakeside was professional and friendly. They took care of everything. It's obvious to me that they really care about quality. We will be back!

Elizabeth Rupp - Unit 21A (2/3/08)

We had a wonderful day skiing at Snowbasin and were very much looking forward to skiing there a second day. We arrived at our Lakeside condo and were very impressed. After a wonderful dinner cooked in the condo we enjoyed the hot tub on the balcony and watched the clouds roll in. It had just started snowing when we went to bed. The forecast had called for snow overnight, but imagine our surprise when we woke up to 24" of powder! It was beautiful. We did try to go up the mountain, but there was just too much snow to ski. The resort couldn't keep up with the avalanche danger. We decided to go home early and save Snowbasin for another day.
Attached is a photo of the view from our balcony towards Snowbasin.

Duane Moats - Unit 36 (1/31/2008)

We have always held our family ski weekend down at Brianhead Ski Resort because half the family is from Salt Lake and half is from California. But this year the California crowd thought it might be worth the drive to come up and check out the Ogden Valley and Snowbasin. We were pleasantly surprised to find the Lakeside Condo so accommodating of our large family (5 boys under the age of 7!!) The amenities were perfect for us. We happened to come on a weekend where we received almost 3 feet of snow in 72 hours and we found that folks were there ready to clear the snow off of our cars and make sure that we could get out. We enjoyed the hot tub and cozying up together watching it Snow over the beautiful valley through the huge windows in the condo. It really was the perfect weekend. We will be back. We have attached a picture of the Rodent ski team. Even the two years olds loved it! Thanks again for a great weekend.

Todd Rothermel - Unit 49 (1/18/08)

The moment we arrived in Salt Lake City we were welcomed with warm, friendly people and beautiful, cold snow. The Ogden Valley was perfectly located with all the conveniences within reasonable driving distance. The condo layout was ideal for our family. It was well stocked, clean and the office staff was available to meet all our needs (which included a trip to North Ogden for a minor injury from on the slopes!). And this included removal of 18'' of snow which fell overnight! This snow made for perfect skiing conditions at Snowbasin for our last day on the mountain. Nothing like fresh powder to ski and snowbaord through! We weren't exactly ready to leave when the time came and could have been easily convinced to relocate here for the winter.

Robert Balcerzak - Unit 39 (1/4/2008)

Every year my wife and I try to get away for a short ski vacation with our two daughters. As they get older it's getting tougher to find the time when all four of us can get away together. We've been bringing friends along for years, it makes it even more fun for the family when we share the joy of skiing. This time we had a snowboarder, Ryan and a skier, Marissa with us. We skied one day at Powder Mtn and two at Snowbasin. There was a ton of fresh and loose snow! For Ryan and Marissa it was thier first time ever skiing "out West". Considering the deep powder conditions they both did exceedingly well, but I'd have to give the "best sport" award to Ryan. I never realized how difficult exploring the glades in deep snow can be for a snowboarder. We would stop in a flat spot; and there would be poor 'ol Ryan standing motionless with his board buried under a foot of snow. At those moments he was probably wondering, "What am I doing here?", but he always seemed to pull together the energy to dig himself out and push on. I also never realized that snowboarders have to kind of "sit down" when they stop on a slope. It's hard for them to balance motionless on one edge. We skiers take "edging into" the side of the hill for granted. Anyway, my hat's off to Ryan to sticking with this motley crew through three hellacious days of skiing and riding in the deep stuff.

The Moore Family - Unit 22 (Summer 2007)

From the second we walked in the door we got chills from the ski lodge charm converted to a summer paradise. We hiked, rafted, toured, frisbee-golfed and land golfed all the time knowing we were returning to our comfortable and luxurious accommodations. How great it was to have tennis and swimming a seconds walk from our condo door. The views from the hot tub on our porch provided a quiet mountain retreat unmatched during any other vacation we have taken. We made good use of the well equipped kitchen, but also found time to visit near by Odgen for many delicious meals.
We hope to one day return to enjoy this location during its winter splendor.

The Nielsens - Unit ()

We stayed in the most beautiful condo at Lakeside for our Thanksgiving weekend. We don't know who enjoyed themselves more, the adults or the children. We loved every minute of our stay and can't wait to come back again. We want it to be our yearly Thanksgiving spot. The lake was beautiful in the morning with the sunrise and even more beautiful at night with the moonlight. Each window provided breathtaking views. It was relaxing and provided a much needed break.
